I just cast on and knit the first fourteen rows of the Mountain Peaks Shawl and it looks like a little green blob of yarn barf. Good thing I ws already told that lace looks like crap until it is blocked.

Thanks for the giggle Trek - I haven't made any lace yet but at least I have heard in advance about the "yarn barf syndrome". I can see how it would be very offputting to someone that hadn't heard - especially with a shawl mountain ahead and they've only hit the tip of the iceberg. heh

Yep, I am finding it is really a leap of faith to imagine anything else coming out of this tangly-looking mess yet.

Yep, when you show someone a lace project that is not a knitter, they can't see anything but a big bunch of stitches.

Blocking is part of the fun of lace knitting.
